Barcan and Kirby receives new ranking in legal guide Chambers and Partners UK 2026
We are delighted to have received fantastic rankings in the 2026 edition of Chambers and Partners UK, including a new Band 2 ranking as a UK-wide SME-focused Firm.
Our Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, Family and Real Estate Litigation teams were once again highly ranked.
Stand-out band 1 ranking for Clinical Negligence
Our Clinical Negligence team received a band 1 ranking, with praise for its expertise in catastrophic injury claims, obstetrics cases, delayed diagnosis of medical conditions and fatal accident claims.
Individual clinical negligence rankings:
- Richard Harries, Senior Partner and Head of our Clinical Negligence Department, has once again received a band 1 ranking.
- Senior Associate, Jay Nathwani, maintained a band 2 ranking.
- Partner, Helen Franklin, has once again been recognised ‘Up and Coming’.
- Senior Associate, Charlotte Tracy, has a new ranking of ‘Associate to Watch’.
A well-deserved testimonial for the Clinical Negligence team said:
“A fantastic firm, with real know-how, medical expertise and sector experience, and a brilliant team who work in a very collegiate way. The client care is outstanding, as are the results they get.”
New UK ranking for SME expertise
After receiving a ‘Spotlight’ ranking as an SME-focused Firm in Chambers and Partners UK 2025, our Commercial Services Division has achieved a new Band 2 ranking as an SME-focused Firm, with Partner, Georgina Bryant, mentioned as a ‘key contact.’
The UK-wide ranking recognises our expertise in corporate and commercial law, commercial property, employment law and dispute resolution. The 2026 guide notes particular success in areas such as shareholder agreements and exits, business-to-business contracting, sales and purchases and experience in the childcare, healthcare and financial services sectors.
“Their advice and work were exceptional. They were able to advise well beyond just the legal documents, but the consequences and, importantly, the unintended consequences of all actions.”
Top ranking for Real Estate Litigation
Our Real Estate Litigation team’s band 4 ranking is accompanied by Legal Director, Sharlie Sollars, being recognised as an ‘Associate to Watch.’
Chambers and Partners highlighted the Property Litigation team’s particular expertise in landlord and tenant and boundary disputes relating to both residential and commercial properties.
A well-deserved testimonial for the team said:
“Their knowledge of geography, the local economy, and businesses provides a real edge in the property litigation they carry out.”
Band 3 rankings for Personal Injury and Family Law
Our Personal Injury and Family teams kept their band 3 rankings, with several lawyers being individually recognised for their expertise:
- Personal Injury Senior Associate, Myfanwy Buckeridge, maintained her band 3 ranking.
- Partner, Samantha Castle, has kept a band 2 ranking.
- Associate, Emily Williamson, received a new ranking of ‘Associate to Watch.’
One testimonial for the team said:
“Barcan and Kirby are very client-focused, easily accessible, and really go the extra mile for their clients.”
In our Family department, Partner, Tom Powles, maintained his band 3 ranking.
A lovely testimonial for the Family team stated:
“Throughout my case, they were thorough and clear, and they responded quickly and efficiently every time.”
“It is tremendous to have maintained and received new rankings in this year’s Chambers and Partners UK. A huge congratulations to Charlotte Tracy and Emily Williamson for their new individual rankings and to our Personal Injury, Medical Negligence, Property Litigation and Family teams who have once again been recognised for their excellence.
I am particularly delighted to see our new Band 2 ranking as an SME-focused Firm. This is a huge achievement to be recognised nationally for the impressive range of expertise within our Commercial Services Division; an area we have been growing over the last decade which has been strengthened with new initiatives and recruits and headed up by expert senior lawyers.”
