Spinal injuries + Cauda Equina
Our specialist solicitors have experience of dealing with a range of spinal injuries and conditions, including Cauda Equina Syndrome.
If your injury was caused by inadequate treatment, medical negligence or a failure to properly treat or diagnose, it’s very likely that we’ve previously dealt with a spinal injury compensation claim similar to yours.
Common causes of spinal injury claims include:
- Cauda Equina Syndrome
- Wrongly administered spinal anaesthesia and spinal nerve damage
- Spinal fractures that have been misdiagnosed
What is Cauda Equina Syndrome?
Whilst rare, Cauda Equina Syndrome is a serious neurological condition that occurs when the nerves at the base of the spine become trapped or damaged. Early diagnosis of Cauda Equina Syndrome is essential – it’s considered to be a surgical emergency and early treatment is vital in order to avoid lasting damage.
If diagnosis of Cauda Equina is delayed, the sufferer can be left with severe disabilities including permanent incontinence in the bowel or bladder, loss of sexual function, limb weakness and inability to walk.
Most negligence claims for Cauda Equina and spinal injuries arise from an initial misdiagnosis of the condition, or delay to diagnose or provide the correct treatment.
Spinal injury can have a devastating impact and we’re only too familiar with the challenges faced everyday by those with a debilitating spinal condition.
