Legal Work Experience Placements
If you are a student between years 10 and 12 who is considering a career in law, you might be interested in applying to our Work Experience Programme. Our programme will give you the opportunity to find out more about life at Barcan+Kirby and give us a chance to get to know you.

Work experience at Barcan+Kirby
The week-long programme will provide first-hand insight into a medium sized law firm. You won’t be filing and photocopying! Instead, you will spend time in a variety of departments, and you will be tasked with individual and group projects. You will learn about the role of a lawyer but also gain knowledge about the other central departments like Human Resources, Marketing, Business Development and Finance. Your time with us promises to be varied, insightful and fulfilling.

A placement with Barcan+Kirby will help you decide if a career in law is for you. We will talk to you about the different routes to law, from the traditional University qualifications, to studying alongside working with us.
You will learn about teamwork, organisation and presentation skills, as well as confidentiality and how to deal with people at different levels in the firm. This will help build your confidence and develop your interpersonal skills.
Work experience on your CV shows commitment and a good work ethic Also, when you are applying for jobs or higher education, your time with us will give you real life, practical experience to draw on.
Where and when is the work experience with Barcan+Kirby?
The programme is a full week between the 12th and 16th of June 2023. You will visit two or more of our offices in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. We will provide you with a detailed timetable if your application is successful.
