Our commercial law services for Gloucestershire County Cricket Club

Barcan+Kirby became Gloucestershire County Cricket Club’s (GCCC) official 150^th anniversary partner in January 2020. It was not only exciting for the firm to establish a connection with a business in the community surrounding our office on Gloucester Road, but a great opportunity for us to establish a working relationship with a local employer.

Two years and a pandemic later, we have continued our sponsorship and are now proud to have our firm name advertised on the Club’s Mound Stand. Whilst we may not have been able to see much of each other in person, we have taken part in a variety of virtual events hosted by GCCC and have established a strong working relationship, with our Corporate + Commercial and Employment teams providing a range of legal services to the Club.

Barcan+Kirby’s relationship with Gloucestershire County Cricket Club came as a result of corporate and commercial Solicitor, Natalie Pring, getting to know them at an expo. Soon after, we signed the contract to sponsor the Club’s 150^th anniversary and our corporate and commercial lawyers have since advised GCCC on various commercial matters. The team, led by Georgina Bryant, provided the cricket club with advice on contractual matters at the start of the pandemic when the Club had to furlough some of its staff. They have also helped review sponsorship agreements with other businesses and provided commercial advice relating to events held at the Club.

Our commercial lawyers have also helped with corporate governance advice, including around structure and assistance with their annual general meeting (AGM).

Thanks to this relationship, our employment law solicitors have also been instructed to provide advice to the GCCC on various employment matters.

Our sponsorship of Gloucestershire County Cricket Club has been incredibly exciting for us as a local firm of solicitors in terms of collaboration on events which have, in turn, given us exposure within the Club’s community.  The growing relationship is also a great example of how Barcan+Kirby’s corporate and commercial lawyers can offer a broad range of commercial advice to a thriving organisation, working with other teams in the firm to ensure all of a client’s legal needs are taken care of.
