Oliver Kent

Oli has worked in corporate law for over five years. He trained and qualified in Exeter, relocated to Bristol to join a large corporate firm, and joined Barcan+Kirby’s Corporate + Commercial team in 2024.

Oli specialises in private corporate transactions. In short, he assists business owners and managers in completing the sale of their business, or the acquisition of another. Having previously worked at a firm that assisted smaller, owner-managed businesses, then a firm that often acted for private equity and larger corporate clients, Oli has the benefit of understanding key issues for either party in a transaction. This complements his offering to owner-managers: he can anticipate and advise on the approach taken by the other side, aiding an efficient conclusion of the deal, all while seeking to protect his client’s key interests.

Oli’s recent experience has also seen him involved in several acquisitions of waste management companies. This is a particular area of interest for him, and he is keen to assist owners and managers of waste and recycling companies, whether that is concerning an exit from their business, an acquisition by the management team, or their commercial contracts.

Aside from his work on sales and acquisitions, Oli is also able to offer general corporate law advice, and assist with small and family business reorganisations, share buybacks, putting in place articles of association, shareholders’ agreements and other business vehicle frameworks, and equally enjoys assisting clients in this way.
