Private Client Lawyer

Due to expansion, we are looking for an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join the team at our Gloucester Road office in Bishopston.

The role will cover estate administration, Trusts (creation and administration) and later-life client work, including Wills, tax planning and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

The role

The role offers lots of variety, but specifically, you can expect to be involved in:

  • Providing technical advice and support for the team.
  • Keeping up to date with any changes in the law.
  • Updating training for all fee earners.
  • Conducting client matters.
  • Taking and recording clear instructions.
  • Giving expert advice tailored to each client’s needs.
  • The management and supervision of support services, including Secretaries and Paralegals.
  • Participation in marketing and business development activities.
  • Financial control with particular regard to cash flow control through accurate time-recording, collection of monies on account and billing procedures.
  • Complying with CPD requirements and identifying specific training needs.
  • Ensuring compliance with SAR, SRA Code of Conduct and Lexcel rules and requirements for matters and promptly advising the Head of Department of any concerns.
  • Sharing knowledge and ideas with your colleagues in the department and firm-wide, as appropriate.

The ideal candidate

  • Qualified Solicitor with three years+ PQE or a FCILEx with experience and interest in Wills, LPAs, Trusts, and estate and Trust Administration.
  • Experience in Trust work and extensive knowledge of applicable taxes (including IHT, CGT and Income Tax).
  • A STEP qualification, or willingness to study for it, would be desirable.
  • Experience in managing a team would be an advantage.

Location and working hours

  • Full-time (office hours are 9am – 5.15pm, Monday to Friday)
  • The role is based at our Gloucester Road office in Bishopston but with the option to apply for hybrid working after your probation
