Charlotte Wait

Having joined Barcan and Kirby in 2019, Charlotte has developed a specialism in cases involving domestic abuse and, where necessary, emergency applications such as Non-Molestation Orders, Occupation Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. In 2025, Charlotte became Head of our Domestic Abuse team.

Charlotte works closely with local charities and Independent Domestic Violence Advisors (IDVAs), ensuring protection is accessible to the most vulnerable clients. She also delivers legal training for Safe Lives to IDVAs and other domestic abuse professionals across the country.

Charlotte regularly assists clients in settling disputes relating to children and their residency and/or contact.

She also advises clients on divorce and separating their finances following the end of a relationship or marriage.

Charlotte can also provide expertise on surrogacy arrangements, both international and UK, as well as the implementation of Parental Orders.

Charlotte strongly believes in assisting and supporting clients to reach a settlement outside of court, where appropriate.

Charlotte is a Resolution-accredited specialist.
