We’re delighted to announce that we’ve received top rankings (band 1) for our clinical negligence team in the 2021 edition of The Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession, which was published on 22nd October 2020.
The clinical negligence team headed up by Partner Richard Harries, were noted as an “outstanding Bristol-based practice with a solid reputation for its range of clinical negligence expertise.”
Richard received a band 1 ranking with comments from Chambers such as “Richard is a highly respected clinical negligence lawyer who can relate well to clients and has a good knowledge of case law.”
Claire Hurrell, Partner, was ranked as ‘up and coming’ and noted for her work on claims involving delay in diagnosis and brain damage, with a focus on birth injuries. Jay Nathwani, Senior Associate, received a band 2 ranking and was described as having “notable expertise handling brain injury, obstetric cases and failure in diagnosis claims.”
Our personal injury department received a band 3 ranking, with both Myfanwy Buckeridge and Samantha Castle receiving band 3 status as well. The team were noted as “experienced, organised and efficient“. Commentators also described Samantha as “a very thorough and knowledgeable lawyer in her field and a pleasure to deal with.”
Our family department received a band 3 ranking – a higher ranking than last year – with sources noting that the lawyers are “very user-friendly and provide a very good service to clients.” One commentator enthused: “They exceeded all my expectations and my overall impression was that they genuinely cared about their client.” An interviewee stated that “they have an outstanding client-focused culture.”
Managing Partner Bill Willcocks commented: “As a firm, we are proud to be recognised once again in three departments. It’s a testament to the hard work of our firm that we have received these rankings, especially to our clinical negligence team who have sustained their Band 1 ranking for many years.
“We are also extremely proud of the personal injury and family teams for their continued success and professionalism in some extremely complex cases. We’re proud that our family team have risen to Band 3 and that Samantha Castle has deservingly gained a Band 3 ranking as well.
“Congratulations to all who have been ranked, and to all members of the departments for their continued hard work and dedication to excellent client care.”
