Emily Johnstone
Emily joined Barcan+Kirby in February 2023 as an Associate in our Medical Negligence department. She has specialised in representing individuals in medical negligence claims for over six years.
Emily has a mixed caseload, with experience of brain injury, delayed cancer diagnosis, sepsis, gynaecological injuries, and orthopaedic/general surgery. She has also represented families whose loved ones have died due to medical negligence, including acting for families in stillbirth cases.
Career highlights include:
- Assisting with multi-million-pound birth brain injury cases and helping secure compensation which will ensure the client is looked after for the rest of their life.
- Supporting a family through a high-profile inquest and claim following the tragic death of their mother, who was a nurse.
- Negotiating substantial settlements to help women rebuild their lives after suffering avoidable urological or anorectal injuries during childbirth.
