We raised £6,000 for dementia in 2017

We’d like to say a big well done to all our staff on their amazing fundraising efforts over the past year. Thanks to their hard work, we’ve been able to raise £6,061.54 for local dementia charities BRACE Alzheimer’s Research and Bristol Dementia Action Alliance (BDAA).

Through a combination of quizzes, bake sales, bike rides and £20km(!) sponsored walks, our staff have found lots of ways to fundraise for these two worthy charities.

BRACE is a local charity which funds national research into dementia and how it can be prevented or cured. BDAA is another local organisation, but with a Bristol focus – their aim is to make Bristol a welcoming and supportive place for people with dementia.

In addition to the money raised, we also supported BRACE and BDAA’s efforts in the local area through a joint seminar and the Dementia Friends initiative, which Senior Associate Anna Molter has been enthusiastically promoting to local businesses.

BRACE Chief Executive Mark Poarch commented:

“Barcan+Kirby have done a brilliant job raising funds for the fight against dementia. They have also been great fun to work with, and we look forward to continuing our association with them in 2018.

“It just shows what a difference goodwill and determination can make, especially when mixed with the enthusiasm that Barcan+Kirby’s staff have brought to the task!”

Tony Hall, Chair of Bristol Dementia Action Alliance, added:

“Over £6000 raised in a year, that’s staggering. For a new, small charity like us, we can really increase dementia awareness with our share of this money.

Thanks very much for all your encouragement and support Barcan+Kirby.”

We’re really proud of our employees’ hard work and creativity in raising this fantastic sum for charity. Executive Partner Anna Wilson reacted to the news warmly: “Well done to all our staff for their charitable efforts this year – they’ve really shown that, as a firm, we’re committed to helping the communities in which we live and work.

“Congratulations also to the head of our charity and social committee, Helen Franklin, and her team of office reps who have worked hard to deliver our charitable activities in the past year.”
