£1,000 raised for local dementia charity
A local dementia awareness charity has been given a boost, thanks to a £1,000 donation from Barcan+Kirby.
Bristol Dementia Action Alliance (BDAA) is a community-based project that is funded entirely by volunteers. We’re working in partnership with BDAA to support their aim of making Bristol the UK’s most dementia friendly city and to help people live well with dementia in our community.
Through their memory cafes, BDAA provides opportunities for activities and socialising for people with dementia, as well as their carers, volunteers and members of the community. They also work closely with local businesses, groups and services in Bristol to promote dementia awareness and put in place initiatives that make life easier for those living with dementia.
Anna Molter, Associate Solicitor, has been championing dementia awareness within the firm. “I’m extremely happy that we’re able to support Bristol Dementia Action Alliance.
Dementia is a condition that affects thousands of people, as well as those close to them, so I’m delighted that we can help BDAA by funding some of their services and awareness-raising activities in Bristol,” she says.
“Having seen the work that BDAA do in the local community and for those with dementia, I’m confident that the money will be put to good use.”
Tony Hall of BDAA greeted the news: “This additional funding is brilliant news for Bristol Dementia Action Alliance.
The money will fund BDAA’s Memory Cafes for people living with dementia in Bristol, as well as helping to cover the cost of our campaign to increase dementia awareness in the community, with the objective of making Bristol THE dementia friendly city in the UK.”
