Cyber Security Notice

Unfortunately, cyber attacks are on the rise; particularly at UK law firms.

At Barcan+Kirby, we take the risk of cybercrime seriously. We have already taken several steps to protect the firm and our clients from cyber attacks and have increased our vigilance regarding cyber security threats.

One way in which scammers try to attack law firms is through transactions such as payment of legal fees. This can happen through email ‘hacking’ or phone interception.

When you instruct us, you will receive our Terms of Engagement and account details. Please remember that these account details will never change. 

If you are asked to make a payment by your lawyer, or a member of their team, please check that you pay this into the account with the details we provided.

If you receive an email or call from what appears to be your solicitor or an employee at Barcan+Kirby, asking you to make payment to another bank account, please do not do so. Please report this to us immediately so that we can take action to ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else.

We cannot take responsibility for any money transferred to a bank account that is not ours.
