John has specialised in care of the vulnerable throughout his legal career, having worked for Bristol City Council before joining Barcan+Kirby.
He now works solely on adult protection and issues dealt with by the Court of Protection. John is regularly instructed in matters to do with the registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney and preparation of Lasting Powers of Attorney. He also assists clients with applications for the appointment of a Deputy.
John also appears in contested applications before the Court of Protection in both financial and healthcare matters.
John is able to advise clients on appealing NHS continuing healthcare funding decisions. He provides guidance on the process for challenging assessments done by the local clinical commissioning group and represent clients at panel hearings.
John is a member of the Court of Protection Practitioners Association (COPPA) and is training to be appointed as an Accredited Practitioner for Mental Capacity.
