Firm shortlisted for four regional law awards
We’re delighted to announce that Barcan+Kirby has been shortlisted for four awards in the forthcoming Bristol Law Society annual awards.
After scooping the Law Firm of the Year (15 Partners or less) accolade last year, we’re once again shortlisted for this prestigious award. In addition, three members of our team have been shortlisted for their contribution to legal services in Bristol.
Claire Hurrell, medical negligence solicitor, is one of three finalists in the Lawyer of the Year category. Claire has been praised for her “exceptional” casework, “relentless work ethic” and commitment to her clients.
Claire is a contributor to several projects within the firm, including redesigning our staff development programme and mentoring junior team members.
Newly qualified family solicitor, Gareth Hughes, has been shortlisted in the Junior Lawyer of the Year category. Gareth regularly helps male victims of domestic abuse and conducts a significant amount of pro bono work for clients in emergency situations who can’t afford legal representation.
Also recognised is Pip Lewis, who has been shortlisted in the Support Team Member of the Year category. Pip’s commitment to client care and can-do approach are highlighted and she’s also a natural mentor, providing help and advice to younger staff and work experience pupils.
Chris Miller, Managing Partner, says:
“What an achievement! To make any shortlist is excellent, but to be shortlisted in four categories is nothing short of exceptional.
“We at Barcan+Kirby know how good our people are, but for this to be recognised externally really is testament to the quality of staff we have within the firm. Congratulations to all those who were nominated, but especially to Claire, Gareth and Pip for making the shortlist.
“I’m also delighted to see that we’re a finalist for Law Firm of the Year – an award we actually won last year, just five months after our merger. In the 12 months since then, we’ve continued to build on solid foundations and I’m really proud of our team – all of whom really do go that extra mile to offer the best legal advice and excellent client care.
“We’re looking forward to the awards ceremony on October 13!”
