Despite family mediation being a viable option for resolving a range of family issues, confusion still exists about how the process works more…
Civil partnerships + civil partnership disputes
Our team of specialist family lawyers can provide practical advice and support throughout the legal process, whether you’re creating a civil partnership or your relationship has broken down.
Undertaking a civil partnership is a significant step. But as with any relationship, there are numerous things to consider in securing your future, such as how to protect your assets should you separate. We can draft a prenuptial agreement to protect you from the outset or help you with the financial relief provisions that may be available.
Separation or Dissolution Order
If you want to formally dissolve your relationship, you can apply to the court for a Separation Order. If both parties wish to end the partnership, a Dissolution Order can be made. This is effectively a divorce.
You can’t make an application to dissolve during the first year of your civil partnership. You or your partner will also need to prove that your relationship has irretrievably broken down.
We offer all new clients a free 30 minute consultation with a legal expert in family law. If more detailed advice is required, each additional 30 minutes costs £50.00 (+ VAT ), payable at the meeting. We can also tell you about our fixed fee packages.
