We’re pleased to announce that Claire Hurrell has joined the firm in the role of assistant solicitor. Claire joins the Clinical Negligence team from Exeter-based Parlett Kent.

As a specialist clinical negligence solicitor, Claire brings a wealth of knowledge and experience across a broad spectrum of injury types.

She has previously dealt with cases involving obstetric and paediatric negligence, head and brain injuries, oncology and psychiatric injury claims, and has a particular interest in fatal claims and inquests concerning hospital and GP negligence.

Recent cases include the judgement against the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust in respect of the death of two year old Joe McCurry.

Claire is a member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL), Headway, the Spinal Injuries Association and the Law Society.

Richard Harries, head of the medical and personal injuries department, said of Claire’s appointment:

“We’re delighted to be bringing such a professional, experienced and well-respected solicitor to our team.

Claire is incredibly client-focused and brings practical knowledge as well as strong clinical insight to this role. I’m certain that Claire’s expertise will be an asset to the firm, as well as the department.

The medical negligence team at Barcan Woodward already has a well-deserved reputation for the quality of their work. I’m confident that Claire’s appointment will further endorse our standing as one of the strongest clinical negligence firms in the South West.”

Claire will be based in our central Bristol office; however she’ll be acting for clients based throughout the UK.
